Up the river, down the river

Directions:
Place 2 rows of 10 cards face down on the table. 1 row is up the river and the other is down the river. Now deal out 4 cards to each player(if there is not enough cards, deal 3). Start by flipping the first card over in the "up the river" row. If you have this card in your hand, take one drink. Now flip over the second card and if this card is in your hand, take 2 drinks(if you don't have the card flipped over,then you do nothing until the next card is flipped over). Keep following this pattern up to the 10th card with 10 drinks(you can also play with 2 rows of 5 cards if you are a weak drinker). If it so happens that you have a pair of cards in your hand, take double the amount of drinks for the assigned card,(example: if you have a pair matching the 5th card, take 10 drinks). Once you are done going up the river, continue to go down the river starting with the 10th drink, HOWEVER, instead of taking the drinks, you get to give the drinks out to anyone you choose( if you really want to get hammered yourself, you may choose t! o take the drinks all by yourself). You can distribute the drinks however you choose; either all to one person or you can split them up between any combination of players. Enjoy the game and have a drink on me!!
